Long time no cc –
We haven’t sent out an update in a while, and thought you all may want to know what we’ve been up to. But before getting to that, we have a meeting coming up in just over a week! Please join us at the Untold Story Bookstore in Anaheim on Monday, August 18, at 7:00 pm for a panel with TU Santa Ana organizers on the successes and struggles of their movement. A business meeting will be held beforehand at 6:30 pm, which you are welcome to attend as well.
Our activities these past few months comprised of our first meeting with the Orange County Democratic Socialists of America (OC-DSA), with Stephanie S. Germanie, Esq. fielding questions afterward. We were also busy with getting delegates prepared to attend the California Renter Power Assembly (CARP) 2025.
The most recent general meeting was on Saturday, June 21, where we held a workshop at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Anaheim in concert with the OC-DSA, with Stephanie S. Germani, Esq. fielding questions on tenant-landlord law afterwards. Programming went as planned, and we’re looking forward to partnering with DSA and Germani in the future!
As a member organization of Tenants Together, we were excited to be invited to the California Renter Power Assembly 2025. Held biannually since 2019, CARP is a gathering of groups across the state in promotion of discussion and alignment around issues affecting tenants. Led by, among others, Right to the City, Housing for All California, and Tenants Together, participants danced, dined, and engaged in critical discourse regarding the near disastrous conditions we all live under today. More details will be dealt out at our business meeting on Monday, August 18 at 6:30 pm. English and Spanish notices are attached.
And coming up in September: the terms of the at-large tenant and ally seats on the steering committee are ending. For only a six month term, you too can make your voice heard and listen to others making their voice heard. Current seat holders are able to run again but fresh voices are always welcome!
Finally, today is the last and final day to submit a comment on social housing to the state legislature. We sent out a message earlier including the links to the survey and comment guide, so be sure to double check your inbox in case you missed it!
