Anaheim, Calif. — Tenants United Anaheim (TUA) announced today that the Anaheim City Clerk’s office has officially approved the organization to begin circulating petitions for a citywide rent stabilization ordinance. This milestone marks a major step toward placing meaningful tenant protections directly in the hands of Anaheim voters.

The proposed ordinance is designed not only to protect renters from sudden and destabilizing rent hikes, but also to strengthen the broader fabric of Anaheim’s neighborhoods. Rent stabilization helps keep long‑term residents in their homes, which in turn supports local homeowners by reducing displacement, stabilizing property values, and preserving community cohesion. Small businesses benefit as well, since stable housing costs allow workers and customers alike to remain rooted in the city. Mobilehome park residents—who often face some of the most extreme rent increases—gain critical safeguards that protect their homes and life savings. And for tenants across Anaheim, rent stabilization provides a fair, predictable framework that prevents price‑gouging while still allowing landlords reasonable annual increases.

“The approval last week means Anaheim residents can finally take action to protect their families, their neighborhoods, and their future,” said Dr. Patricia Adelekan, one of the proponents of the measure. “Rent stabilization is a commonsense policy that strengthens our entire city.”

TUA will hold a press conference on the steps of Anaheim City Hall (200 S. Anaheim Blvd., Anaheim, CA 92805) at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 25 February 2026, to formally launch the signature‑gathering campaign and outline next steps for community involvement.
