Anaheim, Calif. — Tenants United Anaheim (TUA) announced today that their citizen initiated ballot measure, the “Anaheim Rent Stabilization, Eviction Restrictions, and Mobilehome Park Closure Regulations Initiative” will not appear before Anaheim voters on the November 2026 General Election Ballot.
No signature petitions for the initiative were submitted by TUA to the City of Anaheim City Clerk by the 4 August 2026 deadline. The Anaheim City Council, could, if they desired, place the initiative on the ballot by their own will.
From talking to community members while canvassing and gathering signatures for the initiative, TUA came to the conclusion that the measure text of the initiative was not strong enough to adequately address the crisis at hand. TUA decided to suspend further signature gathering efforts for the initiative, and to not move forward with the process beyond the signature gathering stage.
TUA will be working with local, regional, and statewide friends, partners, and allies, in order to improve the strength and coverage of the initiative measure text. TUA is continuing on the ground efforts in line with their mission, just as they did before this initiative was filed.
